Dr. Wingate completed coursework in ministry at Rhema Bible Training College from 1980 to 1982. Following this period, he earned a Doctor of Ministry in ministry education administration from Moody Theological Seminary in 1994. These academic achievements have been instrumental in shaping his approach to education and ministry, allowing him to develop comprehensive courses and write numerous books for universities.
In 1995, Dr. Wingate founded Life Christian University in Lutz, Florida, where he currently serves as president. He is responsible for developing new courses and writing books for the university, which he co-founded with his wife, who serves as the registrar. The university operates with seven staff members, including an information technology director who maintains the system efficiently. In his capacity there, Dr. Wingate handles such responsibilities as grading exams and papers and managing other administrative tasks. He also travels to various campuses worldwide, contributing to the university's global reach and recognition.
Prior to founding Life Christian University, Dr. Wingate served as senior pastor at Life Church. Previously, he was chancellor at Faith Theological Seminary and a pastor at Word of Life Fellowship. His extensive experience in pastoral roles has provided him with a deep understanding of ministry and education, which he has applied to his work at Life Christian University. Dr. Wingate is also a trustee of the International Convention of Faith Ministries, further demonstrating his commitment to the field of ministry education.
In addition to his administrative and educational roles, Dr. Wingate is an accomplished author. He wrote "Divine Faith and Miracles," published by Life Christian University Press in 2010, and has authored numerous other books for universities.
