He currently serves as the chief executive officer at The Flow Consortium, a position he has held since 2019. Mr. Thurlow collaborates closely with organizational leaders and clients in this pivotal role, employing innovative techniques to understand and improve organizational landscapes. These methods, supported by scientific research, include leading-edge approaches to identifying and addressing weak signals and dark constraints within organizations. Mr. Thurlow's current responsibilities reflect his deep understanding and commitment to driving successful organizational change, organizational development, and organizational learning.

In addition to his responsibilities at The Flow Consortium, Mr. Thurlow co-created The Flow System (TM) in 2019, a holistic FLOW-based approach to delivering customer-first value built on a foundation of The Toyota Production System.

Mr. Thurlow is the former chief of Agile at Toyota Connected North America, where he served from 2017 to 2019 after working as an executive coach between 2016 and 2017. His career with Toyota dates by to 2004, and he has served many roles at Toyota, both as a consultant and leader over a period covering 16 years. He also serves as the president of CQD LLC, an organization developing learning and knowledge in the Lean, Agile, and Complexity fields of work since 2012.

Throughout his remarkable career, Mr. Thurlow has made significant achievements to industry, particularly during his tenure at Toyota. He introduced Scrum, a software development approach, to the car manufacturer on a global scale and became the first chief of agile at Toyota. In this role, he led the training and development of "Scrum, The Toyota way," which integrated Toyota's values and ways of working with agile methodologies. Mr. Thurlow's efforts resulted in the training of around 5,000 individuals across Toyota's global operations, showcasing the widespread impact of his work. Additionally, he recently helped transform a telecommunications client's approach from traditional methodologies to innovative practices, emphasizing human factors and behaviors.

Mr. Thurlow received a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Beeston College in 1987. He created the Toyota Agile Academy that taught his approaches to those outside Toyota. He holds multiple industry credentials.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Thurlow is an active member of several industry-related organizations. He is also a professional Scrum trainer with Scrum.org and is a member of the Forbes Coaches Council. Through his community, Mr. Thurlow has served on the college of information leadership board and the department of information science board at the University of North Texas since 2019 and has been affiliated with the SINA Foundation in Uganda.

Mr. Thurlow has made significant contributions through his publications and projects. He co-authored "The Flow System Guide" in 2019, "The Flow System: The Evolution of Agile and Lean Thinking in an Age of Complexity" in 2020, and "The Flow System Playbook" in 2023. His articles and peer-reviewed papers have been featured in various reputable journals and platforms, such as Industry Week, the Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management, INFOQ, and Planet Lean.

Mr. Thurlow is often asked to serve as a globally recognized keynote speaker in light of his work. He was also named one of Forbes's Top 10 Authors for the book, "The Flow System, the evolution of Agile and Lean Thinking in an Age of Complexity." Additionally, he received a World Agility Forum Innovation Award for his accomplishments at Toyota.
