Mr. Elskes was raised in Houston, Texas, where he graduated from St. John's School, before attending Southern Methodist University as a President's Scholar. There he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in Business. During these formative years, he was also recognized as a Rotunda Scholar and was actively involved in Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
Alongside his wife and small children, he attends the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and champions numerous philanthropic endeavors, including The Ascension Seton Foundation, Ballet Austin and the Good Shepherd Episcopal School. Mr. Elskes has remained an engaged member of the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law and the Phi Delta Phi honor society.
Looking ahead, Mr. Elskes sees opportunity in natural gas fired and nuclear power generation, battery energy storage systems, and domestic lithium extraction, as significant investment in new power projects is needed to meet increasing electricity demand. In Texas in particular, he sees huge growth in the power sector over the next decade, due to Texas's rapidly growing population and the outsized amount of electricity supplied by intermittent wind and solar power generation.
