In his role, Mr. Harrington leads a team of over a dozen subject matter experts in fintech software implementation, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Key areas of focus include commercial banking and underwriting, anti-money laundering, master data management, model risk management and asset-liability management. Several banks Mr. Harrington has worked with have recognized clear benefits such as enhanced profitability and efficiency, credit default minimization, and significant balance sheet growth. Prior to joining Moody's, Mr. Harrington was a prominent commercial banker in the Charlotte, NC area, which is the #2 banking center in the United States behind New York, NY. Most notably, he was Senior Credit Analyst at First Bank in North Carolina where he first gained experience with implementing technology and evaluating processes. His bank-wide project was originated out of a mandate to develop new risk management practices around a new major lending initiative the bank was launching. Prior to First Bank, Mr. Harrington first honed his credit skills at Fifth Third Bank and CommunityOne Bank. In addition to his banking career, Mr. Harrington founded and served as Chief Financial Officer at Pour Favor, a craft beer delivery business that he successfully sold in 2023.
With an educational background pivotal to his professional success, Mr. Harrington earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a specialization in Commercial Banking, from the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte. During his college career, he was selected for an exchange program at the EM Strasbourg Business School in France, a Grande Ecole university, commonly referred to as "Europe's Ivy League". Mr. Harrington attributes his success to his abiding interest in banking and financial services.
