Her full-service approach has not only established her expertise in American-grown flowers but also positioned her as a leading figure in the cut flower farm industry, specializing in tulips, sunflowers and dahlias, among others. She also offers wedding design services and runs a retail flower shop, showcasing her versatility and commitment to the farmer-florist model.
Before embarking on her entrepreneurial journey, Ms. Garvey spent more than 10 years in education as a math teacher at The Logan School for Creative Learning, Cherry Creek School District, and Douglas County School District, then finally as a high school academic advisor for mathematics at Mesa County Valley School from 2016 to 2020. She began her career in various roles at the University of Denver from 2009 to 2012.
Ms. Garvey's proudest accomplishment was being selected out of eighty applicants nationwide to be one of the twenty designers for the Certified American Grown Design Team in Washington, DC. As a member of the organization, she was honored to work with the design for the 2024 First Lady's Luncheon.
Ms. Garvey's academic background includes a Master of Education in curriculum studies and teaching from the University of Denver in 2014 and a Bachelor of Science in business administration with concentrations in statistics and real estate from the same institution in 2012. Her educational pursuits are complemented by several certifications, such as being Certified American Grown and holding a Colorado Professional Teaching License with endorsements in several areas.
Ms. Garvey's professional affiliations reflect her deep commitment to her field, as a member of the Certified American Grown, the Association for Specialty Cut Flower Growers and Slow Flowers Society. Outside of her professional life, she is deeply committed to civic engagement through her role as an ambassador for Growing Kindness, where she donates flowers to hospitals and engages in random acts of kindness.
In her personal life, Ms. Garvey enjoys reading, hiking, kayaking and exploring state parks with her family. Looking ahead, she is eager to expand her knowledge within the flower industry and explore new growth opportunities both within and beyond the Grand Junction area. Her aspirations include advocating further with Certified American Grown and leveraging her teaching experience by mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs through online courses or direct mentorship programs.
