Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all considered during the selection process.

Ms. Kaufmann is a distinguished figure in the field of philately, the study and collection of postage stamps. As the owner and operator of her own business since 1989, she is perhaps best known for her extensive knowledge of American Civil War stamps and postal history.
