    QUINCY, MA, July 25, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Scott Foster Bishop has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. Bishop, a distinguished registered landscape architect, human ecologist, and founding principal of Bishop Land Design LLC, has been at the firm's helm since 2015. His expertise in taking an applied human ecological approach to creating a better world, adaptation and mitigation to climate change, and large-scale master planning has not only been instrumental in his success but has significantly influenced the field of landscape architecture. Initially focusing on public works, Mr. Bishop has since expanded to also specialize in residential, commercial, intuitional and educational projects and large-scale master planning that focuses on green infrastructure and nature-based solutions. In addition to directing design work and overseeing his team, he manages all other aspects of his firm, including financial responsibilities.

Before founding Bishop Land Design LLC, Mr. Bishop was a principal and human ecologist at Stoss Landscape Urbanism for over a decade. He also garnered experience as a recreational landscape planner for the National Park Service and as a designer for Foglia Design Associates.

Mr. Bishop's career is marked by significant roles in academia and professional practice. Most recently, he was affiliated with Northeastern University, beginning as a visiting associate teaching professor in the college of arts, media and design from 2015 to 2015, then as a professor of the practice in the urban landscape program between 2016 and 2022. Among other academic appointments, he was a resident expert at the Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities from 2014 to 2016. Mr. Bishop was also a guest critic at the University of Puerto Rico between 2013 and 2015 and a visiting critic at Syracuse University in the school of architecture in 2015. He also held the title of Cejas eminent scholar at Florida International University in 2013.

Mr. Bishop's academic background is robust. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in human ecology with a focus on art and design from the College of the Atlantic in 1997 and a master's degree in landscape architecture and regional planning from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005. Additionally, Mr. Bishop became a registered landscape architect in several states, making him well-qualified in his industry.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Bishop is actively involved in several industry-related organizations. He is active on the subcommittee chair of the Climate Action Network and the immediate past chair of the biodiversity and climate action committee for the American Society of Landscape Architects. He also serves as an advisory committee member to the climate chair for the Boston Society of Landscape Architects.

Mr. Bishop's contributions extend beyond his professional work through pro bono community efforts such as park maintenance. He also serves as the sailing co-director, with his wife Laurie Hemingway, for the Junior Sailing Program at Quincy Yacht Club.

In light of his success, Mr. Bishop has received numerous accolades, including the Cooper Hewitt National Design Award, recognition as a Top 10 Urban Planning Services Provider by Real Estate Business Review, a Merit Award for The Berm Project and the Champions of the People Award for Kincaide Park from the Boston Society of Landscape Architects, and third place from the National Association for Interpretation for Expedition Blue with Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.

Among Mr. Bishop's most significant achievements was the Kincaide Park project completed in Quincy in 2021. This ecological park, combined with a sports park, has profoundly impacted its neighborhood, reflecting his commitment to making meaningful contributions to society through landscape architecture. Looking toward the future, Mr. Bishop aims to bring larger projects to fruition, including a proposed 10-mile trail project in Quincy that will serve as resilience infrastructure against sea-level rise while increasing biodiversity, adding job training in the climate sector and providing an off-road network pathway for people.
