Ms. Shaw serves as the Executive Director of Capital Programs for the Charleston County School District, a role she has held since 2021. In this capacity, she oversees a significant budget of $1.2 billion allocated for new construction projects within the district, which is recognized as the second largest in South Carolina. Her responsibilities encompass the development of new schools and the enhancement of existing educational facilities through multimillion-dollar projects funded by one-penny sales tax revenue. This innovative funding strategy not only supports the construction of state-of-the-art academic and athletic facilities but also significantly contributes to the overall improvement of student education within Charleston County. Ms. Shaw's leadership in implementing the most recent six-year program (Phase V – 2023-2028) is anticipated to generate approximately $994 million in revenue, showcasing her pivotal role in transforming the educational landscape through infrastructure development.

Prior to her current position, Ms. Shaw held several notable roles within the field of engineering, education, nuclear and code enforcement. From 2019 to 2021, she was the Director of the Office of School Facilities at the South Carolina Department of Education, where she managed a $4.1 million operation and granted occupancy to over 400 new public-school facilities and projects within the state's 81 school districts (including charter schools). She led the efforts to ensure these schools were built to meet state codes and regulations. Before this, Ms. Shaw served as a senior engineer III at the same department from 2018 to 2019. Her career also includes time spent as a senior environmental engineer at the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control from 2017 to 2018 and various positions at the Georgia Power Company and the Southern Company between 2013 and 2017, where she was deeply involved in nuclear development and regulatory affairs. As the Nuclear Development Site Lead for Georgia Power Regulatory Affairs Department she managed a $26 billion project in constructing new nuclear reactors that would provide safe and reliable energy to over millions of families.

In addition to earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering with an emphasis on business management from Clemson University in 2009, Ms. Shaw has obtained several certifications over the years, including a Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Mechanical Engineering from NCEES in 2016 and certifications as a lead auditor from Southern Nuclear and the SCANA Corporation. Her work earned an award from the A4LE Association in 2023 and recognition for her achievements as a Director for the Office of School Facilities for the South Carolina Department of Education in 2021.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Shaw is actively involved in civic associations, serving as a board member for both the Southeastern Region A4LE-Association for Learning Environments since 2022 and Columbia High School's CTE Engineering and Technology since 2021. Her leadership during the AcceleratED COVID-19 Task Force as the facilities lead exemplifies her commitment to addressing critical issues impacting student health and educational facilities. Ms. Shaw's dedication to community service extends to mentoring students in the AVID Program and supporting United Way.

Ms. Shaw is deeply rooted in her community and cherishes spending quality time with her family, whether it be through crafting, DIY projects, or enjoying vacations together. Her passion for boxing workouts reflects her discipline and determination, which are evident in both her personal and professional life. Looking ahead, Ms. Shaw aspires to further her impact on the construction industry while maintaining her commitment to community service. She envisions becoming president of A4LE by 2026, with plans to expand outreach and speaking engagements. As a first-generation graduate, Ms. Shaw's journey from humble beginnings to achieving remarkable success underscores her resilience and dedication to making a difference in both her field and community.
