Building on nearly two decades of commercial business experience, Mr. Reid serves as the vice president and general manager of Whirlpool Corporation, with a particular focus on his company's business relationship with Home Depot. He joined Whirlpool in 2014 as a senior manager of sales, marketing and product, before being promoted to senior manager of merchandising, director of sales, marketing and operations, senior director of operations, enablement and experience, and finally his current role. Mr. Reid has delivered impressive results, growing Home Depot to one of Whirlpool's top two vendors and developing a distribution strategy to help ensure long-term growth. He supports the company's health as the executive sponsor of the Whirlpool Young People Group and a change agent who drives ACCOUNTABILITY in all he focuses on.
Prior to starting with Whirlpool, Mr. Reid had a lengthy tenure with Stanley Black & Decker Inc., beginning as a retail specialist in 2006. Over the course of eight years with Stanley Black & Decker, he made great strides in his career, embracing positions of increasing responsibility, including sales and marketing specialist, field marketing coordinator, development manager and sales manager. Mr. Reid's time with Stanley Black & Decker was marked by notable contributions, as signified by his receipt of the company's Eagle Award for outstanding performance and leadership in 2013.
A solid academic background has bolstered Mr. Reid's professional journey. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Southern University in 2006. Committed to continued growth, Mr. Reid earned a Master of Business Administration from Northwestern University in 2018. He has completed certifications in business from the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Business, in Salesforce implementation, and as a green belt in Six Sigma from Whirlpool. Mr. Reid attributes his success to the support of his mother, his focus on constant self-improvement, and his ability to concentrate on the present rather than worrying about the future.
Beyond his primary vocation, Mr. Reid is dedicated to giving back to the community as a donor and volunteer with the United Way. He's been awarded numerous accolades in recognition of his expertise, including being named Business Leader of the Year by Whirlpool in 2020 and 2019, Sales Leader of the Year by Whirlpool in 2015 and Vendor of the Year by Stanley Black & Decker in 2013. Mr. Reid is especially proud of his Leader of the Year distinction in 2020, as he worked hard that year to lead his team through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Outside of his career, Mr. Reid is a classic car enthusiast and enjoys sports, cooking, gardening and travel. While continuing to work toward even greater executive leadership positions, he hopes to spend more time mentoring others in business.
