Ms. Jefferson's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Syracuse University in 1978. It was during her time that she discovered her passion for counseling while working at the Academic Peer Counseling Center. This experience inspired her to pursue a Master of Social Work from Columbia University, which she completed in 1980. Ms. Jefferson is also a certified yoga instructor through the Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, a certification she obtained in 1984.
Ms. Jefferson's professional affiliations include membership in the New York Council of Problem Gambling and active participation in the Employee Assistance Professionals Association, where she served as secretary from 2004 to 2006 and president from 2006 to 2007. In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Jefferson has been involved in several civic organizations. She was a community-appointed member of the Albany Community Police Advisory Committee from 2014 to 2017 and served on various committees within the New York Council of Problem Gambling between 2006 and 2016. Her contributions were recognized with the Community Action Award from the Albany Common Council in 2014.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Jefferson enjoys making jewelry, doing calligraphy, making soap, exploring essential oils, and gardening. She is also dedicated to maintaining good relationships and prioritizing her physical health to ensure a long and active life.
