During this period, Dr. McQuade was pivotal in steering the company's strategic direction and overseeing critical medical initiatives. His tenure at Otsuka was preceded by his position as the senior director at Bristol Myers Squibb between 1996 and 2004, where he honed his expertise in medical affairs, drug development and regulatory affairs.
Dr. McQuade's career began at Schering-Plough Research Institute, where he served as associate director in drug discovery from 1985 to 1996. This early work laid the foundation for his later achievements and established him as a respected figure in the pharmaceutical industry.
In preparation for his career, Dr. McQuade earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina, in 1979. He furthered his education by earning a Doctor of Philosophy in biochemical pharmacology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986.
