KILMARNOCK, VA, August 01, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dennis Defensor has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Defensor is currently the chief executive officer of Saltenna, a dual-use technology company with a revolutionary wireless communication and sensing invention using a new class of electromagnetic waves that will deliver high-bandwidth and fast data rates in communication dark zones: Underwater, underground, under the ice, under jungle canopies and inside complex infrastructures. Saltenna's technology has tremendous government and commercial potential applications, especially in the area of untethered autonomous unmanned vehicles (UAV).

Mr. Defensor boasts a successful leadership history across diverse government-sector companies. His expertise spans cloud computing, cybersecurity, the Internet of Things (IoT), and mission video systems (MVS) for command and control, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C2ISR) applications and wireless communications. Beyond government work, Mr. Defensor led award-winning software entertainment companies. Notably, he led ICOM Simulation, a company he successfully sold to VIACOM. A passionate social entrepreneur, he founded and spun off three of the fastest growing Alaska Native Corporations (ANC) at NANA/Akima, directing 100% of the annual profits in the millions of dollars to the Iñupiat communities in the Alaskan Arctic region.

Mr. Defensor has held senior leadership positions at PESA, SAIC/Cloudshield, GTSI, DLT Solutions, NANA/Akima, Terraglyph Interactive, Viacom New Media, ICOM Simulations, Falcon Microsystems, and Falcon Systems, among others.

A pioneer of future-of-work models, he championed disruptive organizational structures. In 1991, he spearheaded a "teams and tasks" organizational structure, fostering a non-hierarchical environment for rapid simultaneous multi-product, multi-platform software development at ICOM Simulations. Two years later, at Terraglyph Interactive, he and his team revolutionized digital animation. Leveraging Silicon Graphics computers and Microsoft NT, they achieved high-quality animation in a fraction of the time and resources traditionally required for traditional hand-drawn animation. Continuing his trailblazing approach, as early as 2004, Mr. Defensor established a fully virtual company at NANA/Akima. This pioneering venture experienced rapid growth without a physical office, relying on the internet, cloud-based email, and remote collaboration tools to empower a geographically dispersed workforce. Currently, at Saltenna, Mr. Defensor champions the hybrid office model, fostering an efficient work environment that fuels R&D advancements and product development.

Beyond his extensive business experience, Mr. Defensor possesses a strong legal background. He clerked for government contracts division of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Washington, D.C. (1987-1988), followed by a stint as an associate attorney at Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs LLP in Louisville, Kentucky.

Mr. Defensor holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Beloit College and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from The Columbus School of Law of the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. Notably, during his senior year in college in 1979, he received a grant and successfully developed computer simulations for DNA gene-ordering and chromosome-mapping using a groundbreaking approach at the time: rules-based artificial intelligence.

Mr. Defensor attributes his success to his strong affinity for technological innovation and boldly embracing it to achieve high performance and work-life balance for his employees. This philosophy has guided him throughout his career.
