Dr. Dainoff, a distinguished expert in applied psychology, academic research, and office ergonomics, has significantly contributed to integrating humans with technology. He currently serves as the president of Marvin Dainoff LLC, where he has provided consulting services utilizing sociotechnical approaches to optimize human-technology interaction since 2017.

Leveraging his extensive career, Dr. Dainoff spent his earlier years in education as a professor at Miami University from 1969 to 2005. During his tenure, he influenced many students and contributed extensively to psychology. In 1982, he and his wife and collaborator, Marilyn, also founded Consultants in Workplace Ergonomics, Marvin Dainoff Associates Inc., serving as its president until 2008. Dr. Dainoff's work during this period focused on the human dimensions of office furniture design, emphasizing anthropometry and behavioral psychology. Furthermore, in 2008, he became the director of the Center for Behavioral Science at Liberty Mutual Research Institute, where he continued to advance the understanding of human-technology interaction until 2017, and served as a human factors consultant for Humanproof, LLC from 2017 to 2018.

Dr. Dainoff's enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1955, following graduation high school. He was released from active duty upon winning an NROTC scholarship to the University of Rochester. Following his graduation in 1061 with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, he returned to active duty in the Navy as a commissioned officer. During his service, his ship was directly involved in activities surrounding the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his military service, he returned to the University of Rochester where he received his PhD in experimental psychology in 1969.

In addition to his degrees, Dr. Dainoff received credentials as a certified professional ergonomist in 1993. His dedication to continuous learning and hard work has been instrumental in his professional journey.

Adding to his success, Dr. Dainoff was elected as a fellow and is a past president of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. He served as on the board of the Council of Scientific Society Presidents and remains active in the International Society for Ecological Psychology and Sigma Xi.

He has contributed significantly to academic and professional literature, including "Striving for Safety: Communicating and Deciding in Sociotechnical Systems" in 2015 and "A Sociotechnical Approach to Occupational Safety" in 2017. Dr. Dainoff's dedication to improving occupational safety through sociotechnical systems has been widely recognized.

Some of Dr. Dainoff's significant accomplishments include receiving a Best Paper Award from the International Ergonomics Association in 2006 and a Distinguished Service Award from the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics in 2013. He also worked with his son, Charles, to secure a patent for a financial information display system.

Dr. Dainoff's remarkable career and dedication to integrating humans with technology have left an indelible mark on ergonomics and human factors. His vision includes inspiring those seeking to understand and improve human-technology interaction. Looking ahead, Dr. Dainoff is committed to maintaining his health and pursuing his passions. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Dainoff is involved with The Village Movement, supporting community-based living for older adults. He plans to start writing his memoirs, drawing from his extensive collection of documents from his consulting and academic work. His goal is to document his life experiences for future generations.
