Mr. Karam started his career as a structural engineer at Malcolm Pirnie Inc. from 1985 to 1990. He then advanced to head of the structural engineering department at RKA Architects from 1990 to 1996. His expertise continued to grow as he took on the role of managing director at Building Restoration Group from 1996 to 2000. Subsequently, he led the construction management department at DUMEZ Nigeria from 2000 to 2004.
In 2006, Mr. Karam founded LEAD Construction SAL in Lebanon, where he served as managing director for 15 years. He concurrently served as the managing director for LEAD Construction WLL in Qatar, a position he held until 2018. Under his leadership, the company grew from a single employee to a team of 70 professionals, excelling in high-end construction projects. Despite the economic downturn in Lebanon leading to the company's closure two and a half years ago, his exceptional skills led to his recruitment by Pegel.
Mr. Karam holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Toledo, graduating cum laude in 1983. He then earned a Master of Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering from Ohio State University, graduating with honors in 1985. A licensed professional engineer, he is a member of the Florida Board of Professional Engineers. He attributes his success to qualities such as opportunity, professionalism, integrity, transparency and honesty. He values clear communication and leads by example, crediting his wife for her unwavering support and his mother for instilling essential values.
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Karam was actively involved in civic organizations such as Ordre de Malte and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. He enjoys spending time hunting, swimming, culinary and appreciating fine wines, especially from the Bordeaux region.
