Now serving as a police officer and detective with the Porterville Police Department, he maintains the internet crimes caseload in Porterville as the sole detective, reviewing cyber tips from the Michigan National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, researching these tips, and writing search warrants. Additionally, Mr. Cornett frequently attends training, most recently in June 2024, at the ICAC Conference in Atlanta, to further enhance his skills and expertise.
Leveraging his distinguished tenure, Mr. Cornett was affiliated with the Tulare County Sheriff's Office from 1999 to 2024, beginning as a deputy sheriff, moving through the ranks as a sergeant, a lieutenant and then as the sheriff's captain during the last three years, 2022-2024. Before joining the sheriff's office, he worked as a police officer with the Table Mountain Tribal Police Department between 1998 and 1999 and as a reserve police officer with the Kingsburg Police Department from 1994 to 1997.

Additionally, while in the juvenile unit, Mr. Cornett and his colleagues investigated a missing person report involving a mother and her two daughters. They later discovered that the mother and her children were in Las Vegas with her boyfriend, which subsequently led to a homicide case against the boyfriend for killing her 3-year-old daughter.
Highly educated, Mr. Cornett holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice management from Union Institute and University in 2016 and a Master of Science in business management and leadership from Western Governors University in 2020. Mr. Cornett's educational background has been instrumental in his career success.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Cornett is actively involved in civic-minded organizations. He has been a board member of Family Services of Tulare County since 2016 and volunteers at his local church.
