HAZELWOOD, MO, August 02, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Margie D. Shackelford-Oliver has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Since 2002, Ms. Shackelford-Oliver has owned and operated MDO Services, a consulting company providing contract services, photography, and financial consultant services. She is a passionate photographer and strives to offer high-quality results to clients for affordable prices. That includes taking pictures at weddings, parties, corporate events and not-for-profit events. Ms. Shackelford-Oliver has loved photography her whole life and was motivated to launch MDO Services when two friends confided that her pictures surpassed the quality of those from the hired photographer at their wedding. Since then, she has built her reputation primarily through word of mouth, a testament to the quality of her work and the satisfaction of her clients.
Concurrently with her work at MDO Services, Ms. Shackelford-Oliver serves as a project and office manager for Dolan Realty Advisors LLC, Cellular Site Acquisition & Tower Development Services. Prior to this, she spent over a decade working for two different major mortgage companies; Citi as an operations analyst and at Well Fargo Home Mortgage traveling across the United States, as a business manager. Ms. Shackelford-Oliver has, also, contributed her skills as a substitute teacher in the Hazelwood School District.
Ms. Shackelford-Oliver's ability to adapt her career in multiple directions has been aided by her strong education. She received an Associate of Applied Science in Electronics Engineering Technology from ITT Technical Institute, followed by a Bachelor of Business Administration (BA) from Lindenwood University. Ms. Shackelford-Oliver remained at Lindenwood University to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA), then a Master of Arts (MA) in Secondary Education. She attributes her success to her faith, the support of her husband; and the joy she gains from supporting others in return.
Outside of her career, Ms. Shackelford-Oliver is dedicated to being a source of good in the community at large. She serves on the board for the City of Hazelwood's Parks and Recreation Division and for Trailnet, a nonprofit that supports, advocates and educates for an active lifestyle making walking and biking better for everyone. She, also, serves as the President on the committee of O'Fallon Technical High School Alumni Association. Ms. Shackelford-Oliver supports the Crossroads College Preparatory School and the Blossom Wood Day School. She maintains membership at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri, the Regulators Cycling Club, Black Girls Do Bike Inc. and GirlTrek. Ms. Shackelford-Oliver has offered volunteer teaching services to young boys and girls through the St. Louis Financial Services Coalition. She is a past member of the Gateway Optimist Club and the Professional Organization of Women, Inc.
Ms. Shackelford-Oliver's many achievements have been recognized through such accolades as the recipient of the Hatchling Award in 2006 from the Professional Organization of Women Inc. In 1994 she became the first black woman, in the City of St. Louis, Missouri, featured on the cover of U.S. Women "Making the most of our lives." magazine, where she showed off her passion for motorcycles in an article titled "Women 'n' Wheels."
Aside from photography, Ms. Shackelford-Oliver is a devoted wife and mother who enjoys traveling, riding motorcycles and engaging in an active lifestyle through walking, roller-skating, golfing and biking. Her goal for the near future is to support her son as he pursues higher education, after which she hopes to transition into retirement. Ms. Shackelford-Oliver has committed her career to making life better for others in every avenue open to her through community outreach, mentoring, and leadership training.
