Before her current role, Ms. Aloia-Dombrowski gained valuable expertise as a palliative care social worker at a hospital.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Aloia-Dombrowski gained extensive healthcare expertise as an oncology social worker for Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center. She provided support services and served as a liaison with the American Cancer Society, demonstrating her ability to handle complex roles. Before establishing herself professionally, she received a bachelor's degree in social work from Stockton University and a Master of Social Work from Rutgers The State University of New Jersey, further solidifying her expertise and confidence in her abilities.
In conjunction with her professional endeavors, Ms. Aloia-Dombrowski contributes to her community and those less fortunate by donating to the Tim Tebow Foundation and volunteering with Home for Good. Previously, she volunteered with the American Cancer Society and Girls on the Run.
Given her outstanding achievements, Ms. Aloia-Dombrowski received a Social Worker of the Year Award from the Union County Rotary Club and the Union County ACS, an Employee of the Month Award from JFK Haven Hospice, and a Healthcare Hero Award from Hackensack Meridian Health. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in her adaptability, critical care, and intensive care expertise. Likewise, Ms. Aloia-Dombrowski notes that she would not be where she is today without her mentor, Dr. Daniel Rosenblat, who helped her gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of the ICU.
Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, Ms. Aloia-Dombrowski credits her success to her love of her job and her mother, a registered nurse who inspired her. In the coming years, she intends to enlighten the elderly and the severely ill about the POLST Form Practitioner Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment. This documents an individual's medical wishes as they age, so that their wishes are truly followed at end of life. Mary's long-term goal is to continue working until 70 years of age. She will then retire to North Carolina and continue to travel and go on fun bike trips.
