An accomplished diversity, equity, and inclusion specialist, Mr. Arzinos excels as an Economic Inclusion officer for The World Bank Group's International Finance Corporation (IFC). Mr. Arzinos is among a handful of experts worldwide specializing in LGBTI inclusion in Development both in the private and the public sector. In his capacity at IFC, he is the organization's focal point and expert on LGBTI and disability inclusion in development financing. He focuses on producing thought leadership and research to further the business case for economic inclusion of marginalized and vulnerable populations, and is part of the organization's investment and advisory teams. He has been integral in formulating the organization's strategy on vulnerable populations, and on gender, which touch upon millions of people worldwide.
Previously, he worked for the World Bank as a Social, Sustainability and Inclusion specialist, a Social Protection and Jobs specialist, and as a Regulatory Governance expert. Throughout his tenure with the organization, Mr. Arzinos has founded groundbreaking initiatives at the cutting edge of international development, like the Equality of Opportunity for Sexual and Gender Minorities (EQOSOGI) initiative, which seeks to measure laws that protect or discriminate against LGBTI people all around the world, and attempts to draw links with indicators of economic development and prosperity. He has further worked on environmental and social safeguards for The World Bank, IFC, and the Asian Development Bank.
Due to his vast knowledge on inclusion topics, he teaches at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and has been a guest lecturer specializing in LGBT inclusion and development at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Mr. Arzinos holds an MA in International Relations, International Economics, and Conflict Management from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, having spent part of his graduate academic journey in Bologna, Italy and part in Washington, D.C. During those years he also spent time with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce focusing on US-EU Trade and business relations. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, Mr. Arzinos was a logistics officer with the Hellenic Army and a diplomatic adviser for the Permanent Mission of Greece to the United Nations.
Previously, Mr. Arzinos expanded his knowledge by earning a Bachelor of Arts in International and European Studies from the University of Piraeus and an Apolytirion from the American College of Greece, with a focus on classical studies.
