While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Gioia takes the most pride in working as a CPA for nonprofit organizations.

As a CPA after leaving an international accounting firm, Ms. Gioia began leveraging her considerable financial and leadership expertise as an independent auditor and accounting consultant in Philadelphia, PA and then in Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked for several nonprofit organizations. In addition to overseeing audits, she managed their budgets, cash flow, grant proposals, financial statements, and more. Previously, Ms. Gioia was an independent auditor with Laventhol & Horwath and a contract trainer for The Pew Charitable Trusts.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Gioia gained valuable expertise in education, audit management, and finance in various roles with Eastern University, the Center for Professional Education, the Foundation for Accounting Education, and Laventhol & Horwarth. Before establishing herself professionally, she received a Bachelor of Arts in accounting, international management, and French from Avila University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1981. Subsequently, Ms. Gioia expanded her professional knowledge by becoming a certified public accountant in Missouri and completing a Master of Public Administration in nonprofit management from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Gioia has aligned herself with several organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Society of Women Accountants, Community Accountants, the Community Association of Nonprofit Business Executives, the Kansas City Volunteer Lawyers & Accountants for the Arts, the Missouri Society of CPAs, Nonprofit Connect, and United Way of Greater Kansas City. Devoted to her community, Ms. Gioia is also now a member of the Board of Trustees of Avila University.
Given her outstanding body of work, Ms. Gioia has been featured as a Top Professional in the Wall Street Journal. She has been inducted into several honor societies, including Phi Kappa Phi National, Pi Alpha Alpha National, Kappa Gamma Pi and Delta Epsilon Sigma. Similarly, she was named the Volunteer of the Year by Community Accountants, Accountants for the Public Interest Volunteer Achievement, and the Accountant Advocate of the Year by the Small Business Administration. In 2022 and 2023, she also won the Ingram's Local Heroes and Northfield Village Good Neighbor Awards. While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Gioia takes the most pride in working as a CPA for nonprofit organizations.
Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, Ms. Gioia credits her success to her father, a teacher who engaged in finance-related activities, and her mother, the head dietitian at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Looking toward the future, Ms. Gioia intends to volunteer with multiple nonprofit organizations.
