Since 2019, Dr. Batta-Mpouma has been instrumental in building the company from the ground up, leveraging and commercializing a patent-pending nanocellulose-based -suspension technology platform. In addition to his role at CelluDot, Dr. Batta-Mpouma has been a contract research scientist at the Institute for Nanoscience and Engineering at the University of Arkansas since 2015, where he focuses on cutting-edge research in nanotechnology and biomaterials. His dedication to applied science led him to initiate two patent-pending inventions during his doctoral research, which laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial endeavors.

Dr. Batta-Mpouma's academic journey is marked by notable achievements. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Arkansas in 2022, after completing a Master of Science in Materials Science with a focus on nanotechnology from the same institution in 2015. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics from Southern Arkansas University, which he obtained in 2012. Additionally, Dr. Batta-Mpouma has earned a graduate certificate in entrepreneurship and a CBM certification, both from the University of Arkansas Walton College Graduate School of Business.

Throughout his career, Dr. Batta-Mpouma has been an active member of the Materials Research Society, reflecting his commitment to staying at the forefront of advancements in materials science. His perseverance and continuous striving for excellence have been key factors in his success, enabling him to secure coveted USDA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I, NSF Small Business Technology Transfer STTR Phase I and NSF SBIR Phase II grants that have significantly advanced CelluDot's product development.

Dr. Batta-Mpouma's contributions extend beyond his professional achievements. He has served as the community service coordinator for the Materials Science and Engineering Graduate Program at the University of Arkansas, demonstrating his dedication to civic engagement. In recognition of his innovative work, he received the Innovation Pacesetter Award at the 36th Annual Arkansas Business of the Year Awards in 2024.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Batta-Mpouma enjoys reading and playing sports. He is also a dedicated father; he and his wife, Rosemay, are the parents of five children. Looking ahead, Dr. Batta-Mpouma aims to grow his business and expand his team, continuing to make significant contributions to the field of materials science and engineering.
