Dr. Rosenus is a distinguished author and editor with a profound expertise in Western American writing. Since 1972, he has served as an editor at Urion Press, where he has made significant contributions to historical literature. Throughout his career, Dr. Rosenus has also held several esteemed academic positions. He taught as a writing instructor at the College of Marin in Kentfield, California, and San Francisco State University before joining Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His dedication to education and literature has earned him recognition as an expert in his field.

Before beginning his career as publisher in 1972, Dr. Rosenus was the film and book review editor at the Brown Daily Herald. Shortly after that he served as a speechwriter for Congressman James Roosevelt, and Rosenus's report on the activities of the International Labor Organization appeared in the Congressional Record. These early assignments confirmed Rosenus's passion for writing and set the stage for his future endeavors during which he has made numerous contributions to literature. As editor of his Urion Press, he revived interest in Joaquin Miller's novel Life Amongst the Modocs. The autobiographical novel caused poet/critic William Everson to celebrate Miller as the "Creator of the Western Archetype." Rosenus also published Jeff C. Riddle's The Indian History of the Modoc War, and in 1977 he edited a collection of Miller's prose, Selected Writings of Joaquin Miller. In 1995 his widely praised General Vallejo and the Advent of the Americans was published by the University of New Mexico Press. Additionally, Dr. Rosenus's work came out in various esteemed publications, including the Northwest Review, New America, the California Historical Quarterly, Western American Literature, the United States and Mexico at War, and Fifty Western Writers. Dr. Rosenus's academic journey is marked by notable achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature with Honors Phi Beta Kappa from Brown University in 1962, and received a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from San Francisco State College in 1964. His pursuit of knowledge culminated in a Doctor of Arts degree in American literature from the University of Oregon in 1972. These academic accomplishments have shaped Dr. Rosenus's career, providing him with the foundation to excel as an educator and a writer.

Adding to his professional success, Dr. Rosenus remained active in his industry, sometimes assisting at Malcolm Margolin's Heyday Books. He has also been active locally, performing for over 15 years with his jazz quartet at Hoffman's Bistro in Santa Cruz, California.

Dr. Rosenus's achievements have been recognized with numerous awards. In 1979, he was awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Grant to publish his book of short fictions, "Devil Stories." He was later recognized with the Spur Award for Best Biography of the Year for "General Vallejo" by the Western Writers of America in 1995 and an Editor's Award for Historical Scholarship from the Sonoma County Historical Society in 1996.

Dr. Rosenus attributes his success to his deep appreciation for California's rich history and to the gifted people he's met along the way – especially those individuals who have affirmed positive human values with their works of art and scholarship.
