Dr. Kestner's tenure as chief medical officer at TractManager Inc., which was later acquired by symplr, spanned from 2018 to 2020, following his role as the chief medical innovation officer at the Community Regional Medical Center, the flagship hospital of Community Medical Centers, in Fresno, California, from 2013 to 2018.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Kestner held various other leading roles, including the chief innovation officer at Guidon Performance Solutions from 2011 to 2013 and the regional chief medical officer at Abrazo Health between 2009 and 2011. He held senior leadership positions at Alegent Health, including senior vice president and chief medical officer in 2009 and vice president and chief quality officer from 2007 to 2009. Dr. Kestner also worked for Legacy Health, where he was exposed to the private practice community for the first time, as well as Lovelace Health System, the University of New Mexico, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, and William Beaumont Army Medical Center.
Dr. Kestner honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1996 to 2004. He holds a Bachelor of Science in biological science from Michigan Technological University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan. Dr. Kestner also completed a trauma critical care fellowship at the University of Miami and obtained a graduate certificate in leadership development from The George Washington University School of Business.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kestner has been an active member of several industry-related organizations, including the American Telemedicine Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also served on the George Washington School of Business board of advisors from 2021 to 2023.
