In 1980, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in physics, a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He then earned a Master of Electrical Engineering, with a specialty in radio frequency and microwave control systems, electronics, and computer architecture in 1987.
Throughout his career, Mr. Nguyen has been recognized for his exceptional contributions to engineering. He received the Exceptional Service Medal from NASA in 1994 and the Exceptional Engineering Achievement Medal from NASA in 1989.
