Prior to his current role, Mr. Mowry embarked on his professional journey as a certified public accountant (CPA), demonstrating his versatility and commitment to understanding the intricacies of finance and accounting. He worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) from 1977 to 1979, where he gained valuable experience in Federal tax matters that would later enhance his legal career. Before joining PwC, he served as a staff CPA at Deloitte-Touche CPAs from 1974 to 1976, primarily as an auditor.
Mr. Mowry's academic background laid the groundwork for his successful career. He earned a Master of Laws in Taxation law, with honors, from the New York University School of Law in 1981, a Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors, from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law in 1979, and a Bachelor of Science in accounting, with honors, from the University of Nevada at Reno in 1974. Additionally, he became a certified public accountant in Nevada in 1976. These academic achievements have been instrumental in Mr. Mowry's ability to navigate complex legal and financial landscapes.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Mowry is actively involved in various civic organizations that reflect his commitment to community service and leadership. He has been a member of the advisory board for the William A. Douglass Center for Basque Studies since 2012 and served on the board of trustees of Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada from 2009 to 2018, including a term as president from 2016 to 2017. His 25-year engagement with the Nevada Area Council BSA and role as an assistant scoutmaster for Troop 107 underscore his dedication to mentoring youth and contributing to their development.
Mr. Mowry's personal life is marked by his pride in his family's accomplishments and his passion for travel. He is especially proud of his three children: Jenny, who founded Solid Starts; Todd, a private equity professional; and Michelle, who has pursued her passion for law after earning degrees in sociology and French. In the upcoming years, Mr. Mowry intends to continue his pursuit of professional excellence while dedicating more time to maintaining his physical fitness and well-being, traveling to various destinations, and engaging more deeply with his family in New York and Chicago.
