Mr. Coyner, a distinguished professional in the field of oil and gas drilling engineering and project management, has made significant contributions to the energy sector and created value over his extensive career. As a key member of PennEnergy Resource's operations team, he has been instrumental in research, design and supervision for well over 200 horizontal wells. His responsibilities included overseeing supply chain operations, contracting and managing drilling rigs along with managing personnel to execute fieldwork. His hard work and expertise has been pivotal in advancing the company's growth, success, technical capabilities and best in class results.
Prior to his tenure at PennEnergy Resources, Mr. Coyner served as drilling engineering manager at Atlas Energy from 2009 to 2013. In this role, he managed complex horizontal drilling projects and ensured operational efficiency while managing a team of young drilling engineers and field personnel. From 2002 to 2009, he was senior drilling engineer and project manager at Arctic Slope Regional Corporation, where he led several high-stakes artic exploration projects for ASRC's clients on the North Slope of Alaska.
In the 1990's, Mr. Coyner worked internationally for both OXY and ARAMCO as drilling engineer in many countries. He worked on deep gas wells in eastern Saudi Arabia, planned and supervised a relief well in Bangladesh, worked as wellsite engineer on offshore rigs in Albania, Malaysia and Viet Nam along with several other countries.
Mr. Coyner's career is marked by several notable achievements. In 1983, he played a crucial role in the drilling of a 17,700' vertical HPHT well in South Texas in record time using new (at the time) technology. Then, in 1989, he planned, designed and drilled Pacific Enterprise's first horizontal wells in the Austin Chalk using the rudimentary tools available at the time. In the early 1990's while working for OXY in Siberia, he introduced western technology to the native engineers in the region.
Educationally, Mr. Coyner holds a Bachelor of Science in geological engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1978. He is also a licensed professional engineer, certified by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. In addition to his academic pursuits, he attributes his success to safely and dependably completing assigned drilling projects efficiently and effectively. Thus, creating value at every opportunity.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Coyner enjoys spending time with family including his daughter who is a college graduate and his son who holds a PHD. Other interests include traveling, gardening, golf and caring for his Yorkshire terrier. Moving forward, he plans to enjoy retirement although he remains interested in consulting opportunities as they arise. If we are to "drill baby drill" in the future, surely Mr. Coyner can add value to any drilling project.
