Having begun his legal career with an unprompted internship at the Pitt County District Attorney's Office in Greenville, North Carolina, in 2015, Mr. Moss then clerked for the U.S. Attorneys' Offices in 2016. During his third year of practical training at North Carolina Central University School of Law, he worked as a student attorney at the Charlene Edwards Law Office in Lillington, North Carolina, in 2017, and in the Pro Bono Juvenile Law Clinic at his alma mater in Durham, North Carolina, in 2018. Additionally, Mr. Moss directed the campaign for Dinise Williams for Wilson County Sheriff from 2017 to 2018.
In 2018, Mr. Moss joined McCollum Law, P.C. in Cary, North Carolina, initially as legal staff before advancing to the role of associate attorney. The general practice law firm provided counsel in criminal defense, family law, real estate law, and wills and estates, among other areas. In 2019, Mr. Moss briefly served as an attorney at Triangle Divorce Lawyers in Raleigh. That same year marked a significant milestone, when he founded Piedmont Eastern Litigation in December 2019, and officially opened the practice in January 2020. In 2021, Mr. Moss opened the first brick and mortar location for Piedmont Eastern Litigation in Cary, NC.
Mr. Moss's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a minor in Alcohol and Rehabilitative Studies from East Carolina University in 2015, Cum Laude, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence with a concentration on family law from North Carolina Central University in 2018. His academic achievements were further highlighted by his admission to practice law by the North Carolina Bar in 2019. Mr. Moss has also been recognized as an ordained minister through the Church Divinity School of the Pacific since 2014. He remains active in several honor societies, including the National Criminal Justice Honor Society, Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society, Delta Epsilon Iota Honor Society, and the National Technical Honor Society.
Mr. Moss is involved in various professional organizations, such as the North Carolina Bar Association's family law division, the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys, and the National Association of Gay and Lesbian Real Estate Professionals. Earlier in his career, he served on the Board of Directors - Legal for the National Association of Out Professionals from 2019 to 2020.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Moss is committed to civic engagement. He was an advance certified tax preparer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Clinic in 2017 and contributes as a Judge for Durham and Wake County Teen Court, currently. He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Wake County from 2017 to 2019. Mr. Moss is engaged in continual civic engagement through the North Carolina Bar Association and the Young Lawyer's Division, where he engages in several community services or pro bono events.
