WESTFORD, MA, August 14, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Michael Esposito with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Michael Esposito celebrates many years' experience in his professional network and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Drawing on years of professional experience, Dr. Esposito, a distinguished leader and industry pioneer, excels as a visiting professor at the International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Trieste, Italy. In this capacity, he fosters the next generation of students as a yeast genetics and molecular biology professor. In addition to his international work, he researches the genetic control of genetic recombination and meiosis in yeasts as a visiting professor in San Francisco State University's Department of Biology. Likewise, Dr. Esposito leverages his considerable expertise as a consultant for Richmond city government, through which he collaborates with Citizens Action Group to ensure that toxicity level assessment procedures are carried out appropriately.

During the early stages of his career, Dr. Esposito gained valuable expertise in education and scientific research as a senior scientist with the University of California, Berkeley's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and as an assistant professor and chair pro-tem with the University of Chicago's Department of Biology. He has pioneered pacesetting techniques throughout his career to identify and analyze REC, REM, and SPO genes that govern genetic mutability, recombination, meiosis, and sporulation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Along with other industry scholars, Dr. Esposito has authored many publications, including "Nonrandomly-associated forward mutation and mitotic recombination yield yeast diploids homozygous for recessive mutations" and "Conditional hyporecombination mutants of three REC genes of Saccharomyces cerevisiae."

An expert in his field, Dr. Esposito holds a bachelor's degree in biology from Brooklyn College and a PhD in genetics and biochemistry. Subsequently, he expanded his knowledge by completing an NIH-backed postdoctoral fellowship in molecular biology at the University of Wisconsin and a divisional fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Dr. Esposito aligns himself with the Genetics Society of America and Sigma Xi, where he is an associate member.

While his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Esposito takes the most pride in working in NASA's First International Microgravity Laboratory, identifying gene mutations that affect meiosis and gamete formation in eukaryotes and demonstrating that normal somatic cell division begins before the chromosomes duplicate and before mitosis. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his generous mentors and family support.
