Before joining Fidelity, he was a Private Client Advisor at JPMorgan Chase & Co. between 2017 and 2018, and a Financial Solutions Advisor at Bank of America/Merrill Lynch from 2015 to 2017. Mr. Dewhart's career in finance began in 2008, working as a financial advisor at multiple firms. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to assisting clients with building and preserving generational wealth for their families.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Dewhart earned a Bachelor of Business Administration & Management degree from Washington & Jefferson College in 2005, and a Master of Business Administration degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2006. During his high school and college years, he succeeded as a high school and collegiate athlete in basketball. Mr. Dewhart also represented the City of Houston by playing AAU Basketball for the "Houstonians" AAU Basketball Team at Fonde Recreation Center in Houston, Texas during high school. Mr. Dewhart's pursuit of excellence is further demonstrated by his attainment of several designations, including the Certified Financial Planner's designation from Rice University in 2015, and the Certified Equity Professional designation from Santa Clara University in 2021.
Furthermore, Mr. Dewhart has earned and received his Series 7, 66, 9, 10, and Group I Life and Health Insurance licenses through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority since 2008.
Mr. Dewhart's dedication extends beyond his professional achievements to his involvement in industry-related organizations. Born into challenging circumstances in the 3rd Ward area in Houston, Texas., he was inspired by his Mother, Olivia Vinson Dewhart, for her tremendous faith in God, unconditional love, unconditional support, strength, and dedication to provide for their family during extreme financial circumstances. In addition, Mr. Dewhart was also inspired by his Father, Joseph E. Dewhart Sr., who had a major life setback by being incarcerated when Mr. Dewhart was 14 years of age as a freshman in high school. Mr. Dewhart's father gave his life back to Jesus Christ when Mr. Dewhart was 21 years of age, and his father has been a Deacon for Mount Horeb Missionary Baptist Church in 3rd Ward Houston, Texas, for the past 20 years. At 14, Mr. Dewhart had to become an adult quickly to lead his family out of a dire situation while growing up in the 3rd Ward area in Houston, Texas. This inspiration led him to pursue basketball at the collegiate level and a higher education, which led to a very successful career in financial services for the past 17 years. In addition, Mr. Dewhart has been a single father since 2003 for the past 21 years to his Son, Joseph E. Dewhart III, while obtaining great success in his professional career. Mr. Dewhart has also been the "Father Figure" to his 26 year old Niece, Diamond Rodgers, for the past 26 years since birth. Mr. Dewhart's Sister, Nealia Dewhart, has been very appreciative, grateful, and thankful for the unconditional love and support that he continues to display to her and her daughter.
