SEATTLE, WA, August 15, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Yuki A. Seda-Kane has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Seda-Kane is an experienced architect and partner at Axiom Consulting and Project Management LLC, where she has been instrumental in overseeing the design and construction of light rail stations. With over 20 years of professional experience, she ensures that projects not only meet code and government requirements but create an inspired customer experience that creates a focal point in any community.
Her career began with an internship at the age of 16 at a small firm called RMArchitects under the mentorship of Bill Rutledge, AIA, who had designed her unique family home on Whidbey Island, which was the catalyst for her interest in architecture. It was designed with elements of the Japanese lifestyle which came from her Japanese mother and innovative gadgets that were created by her engineer father, and during their frequent travels to Japan she witnessed a variety of ways people lived. At this early age she developed design and construction knowledge, but most importantly learned skills of absorbing a site, interacting with clients and culture, and interpreting their desires and nature of the environment into a vision for a home.
Ms. Seda-Kane's academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 2001 and a Master of Architecture from Washington State University in 2003, Magna Cum Laude, Honors College, and Pass with Distinction. Her undergraduate student portfolio won the solitary seat for an outside public student to join the ivy-league Syracuse University Architecture program in Florence, Italy in 2001. Her graduate education was shaped by Prof. Paul Hirzel who instilled the importance of shaping human experience through design, and her Master's thesis called 'Warehousing,' a mobile housing concept, opened her to a scholarship to join AIA National 2003 Firm of the Year, The Miller Hull Partnership, as an intern in 2004.
During her 7 years at Miller Hull, Bob Hull, FAIA, opened her to opportunities to be a lead architect on homes, and she developed design and environmental knowledge on schools, laboratories, libraries, and projects such as the AIA National Housing Award for Safari Drive Condominium in 2010. She became a licensed architect in 2010. In 2011, she joined AIA National 2009 Firm of the Year, Olson Kundig Architects, under Jim Olson, FAIA and Tom Kundig, FAIA, where she focused on designing high-end homes for discerning clients until 2016, curating exceptional lifestyles through innovative design throughout the world.
Before joining Axiom, Ms. Seda-Kane was a Principal Architect at Sound Transit from 2016 to 2023, where she became an Owner Representative for large capital projects. Her dedication to analyze and shape her clients' needs into a building has been her approach to architecture. She excels in understanding their requirements and delivering intuitive solutions that balance functionality and aesthetics. In large infrastructure, she finds herself the voice of the public, putting herself in the position of the customer, asking if the experience is appropriately human-scaled, and intuitive, and inspiring. She motivates government agencies to invest in designs that merge beauty with functionality so that public buildings are culturally relevant, worthy of maintaining over their lifetime, and do not become obsolete before they reach their functional end.
Adding to her expertise, Ms. Seda-Kane is active in several industry-related organizations, including the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). She is also an Envision Specialist at the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) and earned LEED AP BD+C certification (USGBC). Outside of her professional life, Ms. Seda-Kane is actively involved in civic organizations, volunteering at a local children's center.
Excited for the future, she is determined in joining Metin Keles and Alice Bozdogan in expanding Axiom Consulting and Project Management LLC into a nationally recognized firm delivering infrastructure projects throughout the nation.
