Ms. Harrison began her career as a family preservation specialist at Way Station, Inc. before opening a psychotherapy practice under her own name in 2003. She went on to hold a decade-long tenure at Durango Family Therapy, LLC from 2012 to 2015, while concurrently operating her private practice. In 2015, she founded Trauma Specialists of Maryland, LLC, where she continues to lead and inspire a team of approximately 50 employees across three states. Since 2016, she has also been a trainer and speaker at the Trauma Specialists Training Institute, where she seeks to provide innovative training for clinicians and foster collaborations that drive advancements in mental health care.
Ms. Harrison's educational background includes a master's degree in counseling psychology from Denver Seminary and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Colorado State University. She holds several certifications including licensed clinical professional counselor, national certified counselor, licensed professional counselor, EMDR trainer from EMDRIA EMDR International Association, and EMDR therapy consultant from the same association.
Known as a compassionate and thoughtful instructor, Ms. Harrison's expertise in growing leaders is widely recognized. In addition to her extensive training, she attributes her success to the unwavering support of her friends and family. This support system has been instrumental in her journey from a one-person operation to leading a company with significant regional impact.
