Mr. Barranca Costales has dedicated over 20 years to construction and building code enforcement. Since 2023, he has been a plans reviewer and inspector for the City of York, Pennsylvania. He is also responsible for approving plans submitted by architects and engineers and conducting field inspections to ensure compliance with building codes.

Leveraging his former success, Mr. Barranca Costales was a building code official and plan reviewer for the York Township Codes Department from 2005 to 2023, where he honed his skills in construction, electrical systems, mechanical systems, sprinklers, fire alarms, building codes, and accessibility codes. He also worked for Upper Allen Township as a plans reviewer and inspector for over a year.

Before transitioning into his career in building code enforcement, Mr. Barranca Costales had an illustrious career as a professional baseball player. He played for the Kansas City Royals from 1979 to 1980. During that time, he achieved a significant milestone by breaking the stolen base record in Omaha, Nebraska, with 75 stolen bases in fewer attempts than the previous record of 74. Mr. Barranca Costales subsequently played for the Cincinnati Reds between 1981 and 1982. He played in the minor leagues with the Detroit Tigers, the Cleveland Indians, and the Texas Rangers, accumulating over a decade of success in professional baseball.

Between the Winter Ball and spring training in Mexico as a baseball player, Mr. Barranca Costales would earn extra income in construction, immersing himself and learning the complexities of the industry. When he first moved to the U.S., he also garnered experience as a Master Electrician and continued to progress by self-educating himself through ICC.

Mr. Barranca Costales's educational background includes completing an electrical apprenticeship program at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. He also received a master electrician license from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and has earned over 16 inspector certifications throughout his career.

In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Barranca Costales is actively involved in several industry-related organizations, such as the International Code Council, the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, and the Major League Baseball Players Association. He also dedicates time to civic-minded organizations, having volunteered for United Way for over five years and supporting other nonprofit organizations, participating in activities at the Spanish Center and contributing to the Boy Scouts of America. Moreover, Mr. Barranca Costales frequently coaches baseball to the youth.
