Thomas E. Rehm, PhD, Demonstrates Expertise in Climate Solutions

Thomas E. Rehm, PhD, serves as the president of GSOP Climate Collaboration Inc.

Dr. Rehm, a distinguished chemical engineer, has made significant contributions to the field of climate solutions and process safety. He currently serves as the president of GSOP Climate Collaboration Inc., a role he has held since 2023. Additionally, he co-founded Global Solutions and Outreach Programs in 2022, based in Houston. His leadership extends to his position as past chair of the South Texas Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), which he has been associated with since 2016.

Dr. Rehm's career is marked by his dedication to climate solutions. Since 2020, he has been a climate solutions liaison for the Engineering, Science and Technology Council of Houston. His commitment to the AIChE is evident through his status as a fellow since 2019 and as a founding member of the AIChE Climate Solutions Community since 2018. Prior to these roles, he was a principal at TERehm Consulting LLC from 2013 to 2019.

His extensive experience includes serving as a senior loss prevention engineer at Saudi Aramco between 1997 and 2009. Before that, he was a senior engineer at CH&A Corporation from 1993 until 1997 and a research engineer at Amoco Chemical from 1985 to 1992. Before serving as a graduate student at Northwestern University between 1978 and 1985, he was a senior project engineer at UOP from 1972 until 1981.

Dr. Rehm's academic achievements have been foundational to his professional success, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Arkansas, obtained in 1972. He subsequently earned a Master of Science in chemical engineering from Northwestern University in 1982, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in chemical engineering from the same institution in 1985.

Certified as a professional engineer and holding certification from the Center for Chemical Process Safety, Dr. Rehm's expertise is well recognized. His most notable achievement has been his work on global warming initiatives since 2017, surpassing even his significant contributions to risk-based process safety.

Dr. Rehm's professional affiliations include membership in the AIChE, Citizens' Climate Lobby and the Stable Climate Group. His dedication to excellence has earned him induction into the Arkansas Academy of Chemical Engineers.
