Mr. Kivela has established a distinguished career in behavioral health and health care management. As the director of healthcare analytics at Northern Arizona Regional Behavioral Health Alliance ACO since 2022, he has demonstrated exceptional expertise in his domain. Mr. Kivela's role involves collaborating with behavioral health providers to understand their data needs and develop tools and models that help meet patient needs and value-based goals.

Mr. Kivela is simultaneously an accountable care organization manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona through a unique cross-industry partnership. In this capacity, he is entrusted with similar responsibilities, ensuring that providers have the necessary data to meet important benchmarks like follow-up after hospitalization. Mr. Kivela has dedicated most of his career to Blue Cross Blue Shield through its many iterations, dating back to 2009. Mr. Kivela was promoted to director of Adult & Crisis Services in 2015, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Among other noteworthy positions in behavioral health, Mr. Kivela's earlier years included clinical care coordinator and Division of Developmental Disabilities liaison at Northern Arizona Regional Behavioral Health Authority between 2009 and 2015. Mr. Kivela began his career in human service as a child welfare case manager at Catholic Charities in 2005. He then served the Arizona Department of Economic Security and the New Jersey Department of Children and Families as a child protective services specialist from 2005 to 2008. His work in child welfare would eventually lead him to his successful career in behavioral health.

Mr. Kivela's notable achievement includes his involvement in the State Opioid Response beginning in 2017. Under his leadership, Blue Cross Blue Shield infused the community with over $10 million. This funding supported smaller non-profit companies working directly with individuals suffering from opioid use disorders. Approximately 20 organizations received funding to carry out community-based initiatives like recovery housing and street outreach.

In preparation for his career, Mr. Kivela earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Iona University in 2002, and Master of Arts in psychology from Northern Arizona University in 2007. He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston and expects to graduate in 2025. He also obtained numerous certifications that enhanced his data science and analytics expertise. These include Google's Professional Certificate in Data Analytics and numerous continuing education certificates from LinkedIn and Coursera, among other organizations. Mr. Kivela has focused these efforts to stay at the cutting edge of predictive analytics and machine learning.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Kivela is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the International Business Honor Society, and Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.

Beyond his professional life, Mr. Kivela has been actively involved in various civic-minded organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America. He is also proud of his accomplishments as a campus minister at Iona College where he was the president of Pax Christi, actively pursuing peace and justice for the urban communities surrounding New York City. He has contributed to academic literature with an article published through Northern Arizona University in 2007.

Mr. Kivela's career has been recognized with such honors as the Eleanor Campbell Devlin Award for Peace and Justice in 2002, Social Worker of the Year in 2005, and Blue Cross Blue Shield MVP in 2022. Mr. Kivela credits the guidance of his parents John and Barb Kivela, and the unwavering support of his wife, Angela Kivela, for his achievements and honors.
