Concurrent to his St. Patrick's Day undertakings, Mr. Beirne has been a science educator at Eastchester High, School since 2001, and at Westchester Hebrew high school since 2011, following a 13-year tenure as a teacher at a Catholic school in the Bronx, where he began his endeavors in education. He started his career in 1996 as an area manager for Volac Animal Feeds in Ireland before moving to the United States.
Mr. Beirne's academic background is diverse, beginning with coursework at St. Mary's College, Hollymount National School and the University of Galway. In 1982, he obtained a diploma in agriculture, agricultural operations and related sciences from Atlantic Technology University Mountbellew Campus, followed by a Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences from University College Dublin in 1984. He subsequently earned a Master's Degree in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences from the Graduate Center at the City University of New York in 1996, graduating summa cum laude.
Throughout his career, Mr. Beirne has been recognized for his contributions and achievements with numerous awards, including the Golden Bridge Award in 2023 and a New York City Hero Award from the Bowling Green Association in 2023. In addition to his professional roles, Mr. Beirne is actively involved in various civic organizations. He was also previously a member of the New York State Ancient Order of Hibernians from 1998 until 2013.
