Mr. Hester has carved an impressive 45-year career as an accomplished business leader. In his role as the chief executive officer and founder of Collaborative Resources, he has been instrumental in shaping the company's strategic direction since 2000. Although retired, he remains influential in the company through his focus on special projects.
Mr. Hester's career began at Pierce Foods in 1979. He quickly ascended to leadership roles and became president of the company, where he served until 1997. During his tenure at Pierce Foods, he also held positions on the board of the USA Poultry and Egg Export Council and the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service from 1994 to 1999. His leadership at Pierce Foods culminated in his role as president of the International Operations Committee at ConAgra Foods from 1997 to 1999.
In addition to founding Collaborative Resources in 2000, Mr. Hester demonstrated his commitment to education through his roles as adjunct faculty at Shenandoah University from 1999 to 2002 and as a trustee emeritus from 2012 to 2024. Additionally, he was president of the Shenandoah Family Business Alliance from 2013 to 2024 and chaired the finance committee at Collaborative Resources Inc. from 2009 to 2010.
Mr. Hester's expertise in strategic planning, leadership and business brokerage is widely recognized. He has served on numerous boards, including ATTECO dba Mrs. T's Pierogies from 2000 to 2017, Grafton School from 1999 to 2009, and the Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College Board of Governors from 2003 to 2008. His involvement extends to civic organizations such as the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce and Leadership West Virginia.
Mr. Hester's academic background laid the foundation for his success. He earned a Bachelor of Science in economics from Florida Southern College in 1979 and a Master of Business Administration from Shenandoah University in 1985. His dedication to learning is evident through his numerous certifications, including a certification in art business from Sotheby's Institute of Art in 2017 and certifications in logistics, materials, and supply chain management; production and inventory management; and integrated resource management from APICS in 1997.
Mr. Hester attributes his accomplishments to his desire to help others and his extensive leadership experience. This philosophy has earned him accolades such as Outstanding MBA Alumnus from Shenandoah University, an award from Virginia JC, and the title of Honorary West Virginian by the governor.

Outside of his professional life, Mr. Hester is a devoted father and enjoys playing baseball, riding a unicycle, and exploring quantum physics. Looking ahead, he plans to come out of retirement for special projects that align with his expertise and passion for strategic planning and CEO mentoring.
