Mr. Riddick's most recent role was as the CIO for the State of New York and earlier as the CIO and Director of the Bureau of Information Technology for the United States Virgin Islands from 2016 to 2019. He previously served as a business development consultant in 2016, leveraging his extensive experience to provide strategic guidance to various organizations. From 2014 to 2016, Mr. Riddick was the director of business development for cybersecurity at RYAN Consulting Group Inc. in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Riddick dedicated significant time to military service, holding various leadership positions before retirement. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves in Infantry. He later entered active duty, culminating in his service as a United States Army Colonel from 1981 to 2014. Mr. Riddick served in numerous command and staff positions during his esteemed career. He served as Base Commander (Site Lead) for USCENTCOM in Kirkuk, Iraq, 2011 after the last Gulf War.
Beyond his operational roles, Mr. Riddick was a professor of systems management with the College of Information and Cyberspace at the National Defense University (NDU) from 2005 to 2011. He also served in a two-year post as the chief of the Customer Support Division at the Information Management Support Center (IMCEN) in the Pentagon, within the U.S. Department of Defense's Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy in 2002.
Mr. Riddick's academic background has been foundational to his success. He earned a master's degree in Quality Systems Management, specializing in systems science and theory, from the National Graduate School of Quality Management in 2004. He also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Albany State University, obtained in 1983, and an Associate of Arts in Business Administration and Management from the Marion Military Institute, completed in 1981.
In addition to his degrees, Mr. Riddick has acquired several certifications that have bolstered his professional capabilities. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute Inc. since 2006 and obtained a Top Secret/SCI Clearance from the Department of Homeland Security in 2022. He held a Top Secret/SCI clearance with the Department of Defense from 1987 until his retirement in 2014. His other certifications include "Leading without Formal Authority and Strategic Thinking" from Linkedin, as well as CNSS 4011 from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), among others.
Long dedicated to civic advocacy, Mr. Riddick's service to his community extends beyond his occupational and military experience. He has held board memberships with the Marion Military Institute and Morehouse College's Innovation Advisory Board since 2022. He has also served as the IT Chair for his fraternity, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. His contributions extend to literature as well, having worked on "Mothers and Leadership: Twelve Principles for Success," published in 2022.
Throughout his career, Mr. Riddick has been the recipient of several formal recognitions, including the prestigious Colonel Charles Young Award, recognizing his exemplary service and leadership, awarded by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc, with a career marked by countless achievements. Also, he was recognized as the State Executive of the Year by the StateGov organization for his achievements in the Virgin Islands and New York State. Mr. Riddick attributes his success to his unwavering determination, perseverance, and ambitious goals.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Riddick enjoys golfing and reading. Looking ahead, he aims to finalize his autobiography and launch an innovative mentoring program.
