STOCKBRIDGE, GA, August 22, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Roberto Eduardo Gibraltarik has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Dr. Gibraltarik is a distinguished educator with an extensive background in teaching Spanish and African diaspora studies. Serving as a lecturer of Spanish at Morehouse College since 2017 and an instructor of Spanish and African diaspora and the world at Spelman College since 2015, he has dedicated over five decades to education. His daily routine involves meticulous preparation for his classes, personal engagement with students through office hours, and active participation in departmental meetings, where he contributes insights on student trips and cultural events.

Dr. Gibraltarik's career journey reflects a commitment to academic excellence and multicultural understanding. Prior to his current roles, he served as a lecturer of Spanish at Clayton State University from 2011 to 2021 while also working as an education consultant. His leadership skills were honed as the department chair of world languages at the Benicia Unified School District from 2009 to 2011, which followed a decade-long tenure as a world language teacher at Benicia High School. In the summer of 2005, he took on additional responsibilities as co-principal at the Benicia Unified School District. His academic career also includes time as an adjunct professor at Berkeley City College from 2001 to 2004 and, earlier, as the director of replication for Cities in Schools from 1989 to 1992.

Recognized for his expertise in education administration, academic counseling, planning and directing multicultural events, and authoring poetry and professional manuals, Dr. Gibraltarik has achieved a level of expertise that is both rare and commendable. His professional affiliations include the Afro-Latin American Research Association, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, ASCD and the California Teachers Association. These memberships reflect his deep engagement with issues related to education and cultural heritage.

Likewise, Dr. Gibraltarik's educational background laid the foundation for his successful career. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy in education policy, organization and leadership from the University of California Santa Barbara in 1995 after completing a Master of Arts in Spanish, Hispanic culture and civilization in 1977. His undergraduate studies culminated in a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish language teacher education from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo in 1974. Additionally, he completed coursework at SUNY Albany from 1969 to 1972 and studied international global studies at Universidad de Guadalajara in 1971. Impressively, he also holds a Master of Arts in Hispanic philology from Instituto de Filología Hispánica in Saltillo, Mexico. He holds both a teaching credential for K-12 education and an administrative credential in the State of Georgia.

The strong family background instilled by Dr. Gibraltarik's mother played a pivotal role in shaping his values and aspirations. The support from his family encouraged him to pursue higher education and eventually led him to teach Spanish — a subject close to his heart due to his native language proficiency — and African diaspora studies. Outside the classroom, Dr. Gibraltarik is an accomplished writer who takes pride in exploring diverse cultures through his work. He is currently working on an article about the Garifuna people, a community with African roots that has found a home in Atlanta with ties to Spelman College, drawing parallels with the Gullah community from South Carolina. This project follows his notable work, "Africa's Legacy in Mexico," published in 1994.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Gibraltarik enjoys traveling, fishing and spending quality time with his family. He has plans to explore real estate investment opportunities post-retirement while continuing his passion for writing and recording music.
