Initially drawn to a career as a civil engineer, Mr. Seymour studied applied mathematics at Auburn University, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1990. Drawing inspiration from the example of his mother, a vice president at Boeing, he was persuaded to explore opportunities in the field of computer science. After several years spent at GTE Wireless and BellSouth Mobility, which later became AT&T, where he advanced to become an executive director of account management and emerging business technology for all the U.S. and Mexico. He continued his work at the company until his retirement 2023, during which time he earned distinction for excellence in the areas of cybersecurity, mergers and acquisitions, artificial intelligence and machine-based learning, and rose to become an assistant vice president of technology development and operations supporting over 30 platforms. Following this period, Mr. Seymour worked as a transformation operations leader of architecture, government mandates and grants at Point Broadband until 2024.
In a career suffused with highlights, Mr. Seymour is particularly proud to have garnered a reputation for innovation. In addition to being granted 12 patents, with a further 36 pending, he has played a crucial role in more than 20 acquisitions, overseeing all engineering and IT-related considerations for 20. This involved the pre-discovery, pre-close and post-close phases, where he implemented strategies that propelled his career from director to executive director to assistant vice president. Additionally, he was involved in the testing phase for the interface of the iPhone/iPad/iWatch prior to its initial launch and subsequent product launches through i10 product line, which ultimately ensured that the device could be activated in mere seconds after being purchased.
Outside of his primary endeavors, Mr. Seymour has collaborated with the Aspire Program through AT&T, which encourages high school students to pursue careers in science, technology and engineering. He is also the sponsor of a battered women's home, and works closely with law enforcement to ensure that women have access to the resources they need to escape domestic abuse. Additionally, Mr. Seymour is the author of a children's book, "Bailey & Russell's Adventure," which seeks to impart important lessons on safety, culture, patriotism and technology through the perspective of two adorable dogs.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Seymour hopes to remain involved in the technology sector and share the lessons he has learned over the course of his career with a younger generation of professionals.
