Prior to that, he was a chaplain at Walnut Grove Youth Correctional Facility under the Mississippi Department of Corrections from 1996 to 2004. There he served youth offenders, ages 13-21, who had adult charges but could not be housed in an adult facility.
Mr. Mann's educational background has greatly enhanced his professional success. He earned an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts in 1994 from East Central Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Physical Education from Mississippi Valley State University in 1996. In 2016, he furthered his education with a Master of Science in Sports Administration from Hampton University.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Mann is deeply involved in civic activities. He serves as a pastor at First Baptist Church in Carthage, volunteers for Relay For Life and actively supports United States Veterans. He is also the founder of M3 Ministries, where he mentors young boys and girls in his community. Moreover, Mr. Mann is actively affiliated with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.
Mr. Mann has earned numerous accolades throughout his career, including inductions into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Mississippi Valley State University, the Athletic and Academic Hall of Fame at East Central Community College, the SWAC Athletic Hall of Fame and the Mississippi Community and Junior College Hall of Fame. He was also drafted in the NBA in 1996 by the Golden State Warriors. Beyond these honors, Mr. Mann is a published author, with his 2023 book "He Chose Me: From Player to Pulpit," delving into his transformative journey from NBA player for the Golden State Warriors to a life of higher purpose.
Outside of his occupation, Mr. Mann enjoys watching television, listening to music, reading and writing. Looking ahead, he is dedicated to traveling across the country to provide guidance and support to young people, aiming to make a positive impact on a broader scale through his mentoring efforts.
