From 2013 to 2016, he was the Managing Director of the Management Consulting Division at Black & Veatch Corporation following his tenure as the Senior Vice President of Origination at Gazprom Marketing & Trading USA Inc. from 2007 until 2013.
Earlier in Mr. Abt's career, he was the Vice President at Pace Global Energy Services between 2002 and 2007 and a Principal at Pendulum Resources from 1997 to 2002. He gained his initial managerial experience at Tenneco Energy, where he worked from 1987 until 1997. His career began as a petroleum engineer in the oil fields of the Rocky Mountain region, where he honed his technical skills for six years before transitioning to a commercial role within the same company. His strong business acumen facilitated this shift, allowing him to leverage his expertise in various capacities.
Mr. Abt's educational background laid the groundwork for his professional achievements. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma, followed by a Master of Business Administration from the C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. He attributes his success to his strong work ethic, which has been instrumental in building solid relationships globally and achieving significant milestones, including effectively marketing services at Enstor Gas under a long-term contract that led to a threefold increase in business over three years.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Abt is actively involved in civic organizations. He has served as the President of the Church Council and currently serves as the Chair of the Personnel Committee at his church. He is also deeply committed to Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a nonprofit organization dedicated to building beds for children. His involvement with SHP is particularly rewarding as it allows him to witness the joy on children's faces when they receive their new beds.
Looking ahead, Mr. Abt intends to increase his involvement with SHP and take on a more significant role within the nonprofit organization. He also aims to become a board member for one or two organizations in the energy sector, either nonprofit or for-profit.
