Mr. King spent over a decade as a managing partner at Slater & King, where he built up his reputation as an attorney committed to achieving positive outcomes for his clients.

BROOKHAVEN, GA, August 26, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cary S. King, Lt. Col. USAR (Ret), has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having practiced law for 40 years, Mr. King currently serves as an attorney for SK Law Group, formerly Jacobs & King LLC, and principal for Cary King Mediation & Arbitration. He has distinguished himself in handling criminal cases, general civil litigation, partnership disputes, family law and more. Mr. King prides himself on prioritizing the well-being of his clients rather than focusing on financial gain. One of his most significant cases, The State of Georgia v. Tonya Craft, is studied by many lawyers as a guide to challenging criminal defense trials. That case is detailed in the book "Accused: My Fight for Truth, Justice and the Strength To Forgive" by Tonya Craft.

Prior to his current positions, Mr. King spent over a decade as a managing partner at Slater & King, where he built up his reputation as an attorney committed to achieving positive outcomes for his clients. His first experience in law was as a partner at Blackburn, Shuster, King & King, beginning in 1984. Before becoming a lawyer, Mr. King served in the U.S. Army and National Guard, during which time he was deployed to Vietnam for almost two years in both the Infantry and the Artillery as a Captain and, upon his retirement from the National Guard, he achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Even after retiring from the Army, Mr. King's military service remains important to him. He has made a point to offer pro bono legal services to fellow veterans and was a founder of the Veterans pro bono clinic in Atlanta.

A strong education forms the foundation of Mr. King's success. He received a Bachelor of Science in industrial psychology from Georgia State University in 1963. He earned a Juris Doctor at Atlanta's John Marshall Law School in 1984 after his active Military Service. Following his academic achievements, Mr. King has earned several certifications to continue expanding his knowledge, including being registered as a neutral and as an arbitrator and mediator through the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. He has been admitted to the bar in the state of Georgia, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Georgia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Beyond his work responsibilities, Mr. King holds membership in numerous industry-related organizations, demonstrating his desire to stay on top of the latest legal information. These have included the American Bar Association and the Atlanta Bar Association. Mr. King formerly provided guidance as the president of the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association and its Foundation and continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of both. His contributions have been recognized with such accolades as the Marshall-Tuttle Award from the State Bar of Georgia, the Public Interest Law Award from John Marshall Law School, and an award from the general counsel of the United States Veterans Administration for the year 2012. His military commendations include five Bronze Stars for Valor and Meritorious Service, the Purple Heart Medal, the Air Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, the Army Commendation Medal and the Combat Infantryman's badge.

Mr. King is also dedicated to improving the world beyond the scope of his career. He has volunteered with the Special Olympics Virgina, We Care and the United Service Organizations through the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Mr. King honors his military service through association with Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Society of the 1st Infantry Division and the Vietnam Memorial Foundation, as well as regular participation in Memorial Day and Veteran's Day services and conducting interviews of Veterans for the Library of Congress through the Legacy project of the Atlanta History Center. A staunch advocate for the kind treatment of animals, he maintains membership in the Atlanta Humane Society, the Humane Society of the United States, the Association for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the World Wildlife Foundation.

Outside of his professional life and civic work, Mr. King enjoys attending sports events and watching them on TV—especially football and baseball—as well as spending time with his six grandchildren. He attributes his success to his time in the military, particularly the ongoing inspiration gleaned from a Marine sergeant who served in Vietnam during the 1968 Tet Offensive at the same time as Mr. King. Mr. King's enthusiasm for his law practice continues to be fueled by his fond memories of that sergeant's words: "For those who fight for it, life has a flavor the protected never know."
