A seasoned child services manager with years of investigations and auditing expertise, Ms. Crites excels as the division manager of audit and risk mitigation for the Indiana Department of Child Services. In addition to overseeing the fraud investigation unit and the community-based contract compliance team, she handles internal audits of the Department of Child Services by the State of Indiana, the federal government, and other reviewing bodies. Previously, Ms. Crites was the chief investigator and contract compliance auditor for the same department from 2014 until 2023.
During the early stages of her career, Ms. Crites was a medical records clerk and director of medical records for the Acadia Healthcare Resource Acquisitions RTC. She was responsible for the internal auditing, storage, and security of case records. In this capacity, she honed her expertise in DSM IV, DSM V, ICD-9, ICD-10, HIPAA compliance, and DCS contracts, service standards, and corporate compliance. Throughout her five-year tenure with the organization, Ms. Crites managed external audits with The Joint Commission, Medicaid, and the Department of Child Services.
Dedicated to continued education, Ms. Crites received several certifications over the years, including a giving and receiving feedback certificate and a managing high potentials certificate through LinkedIn, a certificate in The Reid Technique of Investigative Interviewing and Positive Persuasion through John E. Reid & Associates, and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt through Purdue University. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Crites aligns herself with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators.
In addition to her professional and educational endeavors, Ms. Crites has made significant contributions to her community and those less fortunate through her work with Franklin College, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Global Goodwill Ambassadors. Her altruism is truly commendable.
Given her professional achievements, Ms. Crites has been honored many times, earning awards for her dedication to Franklin College, a Legion of Hoosier Heroines Award from R. Martin Umbarger, the Adjutant General of Indiana and was named an International Humanitarian by Global Goodwill Ambassadors. She has also spearheaded initiatives that have significantly reduced the number of children entering the system. Her remarkable leadership created an entire division focused on risk mitigation and left an indelible mark on the organization.
