Prior to his current position, he served as interim chief executive officer and president of The Association for Manufacturing Excellence from 2019 to 2020 and director of business development at South Dakota Partners from 2013 to 2019. Additionally, he was an instructor at the San Diego State University Research Foundation from 2015 to 2018 and lead instructor at the University of California San Diego School of Extended Studies and Public Programs from 2009 to 2018.
Mr. Wright's earlier career includes significant roles, such as senior vice president of lean and enterprise excellence at DJO from 1997 to 2013 and various positions in operations and engineering at Kimberly-Clark from 1987 to 1997. He also worked as an HP/LP turbine engineering assistant at Honeywell Aerospace in Phoenix from 1986 to 1987.
Mr. Wright's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Arizona State University in 1987. In 1993, Mr. Wright earned his Professional Engineering License as a Mechanical Engineer. He furthered his education by earning a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2002.
Among his notable achievements, Mr. Wright obtained his Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification in 2016 and became one of only seven individuals globally certified as Lean Gold by the Association for Manufacturing Excellence, the American Society for Quality, the Society of Manufacturing Engineering and the Shingo Institute in 2016. He also holds a patent for a cold therapy pad design granted in 2003.
Mr. Wright is also actively involved in industry-related organizations, having served as a director since 2004, the chairman of the board for the Association for Manufacturing Excellence in 2017 and as interim chief executive officer and president from 2015 to 2016 and again in 2019. He is also a life member of the United States Judo Association since 1996 and earned his Level 1 Certified Coach in Judo in 2004.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Wright became a bestselling author on Amazon in 2024 for his new book, "The Insanity Trap: What Your MRP Consultant Won't Tell You." He also contributed to "The Lean Handbook, A Guide to the Bronze Certification on the Lean Body of Knowledge" published back in 2012. Active in his local community, he is a sponsor of local charities and has received recognition from the San Diego Awards Program as San Diego Business Management Consultant of the Year for six straight years, earning him a Hall of Fame distinction.
Outside of his career, Mr. Wright enjoys playing disc golf and soccer, golfing, bike riding, hiking and spending time with his family. Looking ahead, he plans to evaluate the performance of his business and personal preferences with his wife before making any retirement decisions.
