Prior to her current role, Ms. Louthain worked as a Systems Accountant for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service – Indianapolis from 1982 to 2000. Before this post, she served as a Management Analyst with the Department of Veterans Affairs Headquarters in Washington, DC. During her federal employment she not only gained experience in administrative decision-making but expanded her perspectives through extensive business travel.
Ms. Louthain's educational background laid a strong foundation for her professional achievements. She pursued her Masters of Public Administration degree at the Washington Public Affairs Center, University of Southern California and her Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Psychology at Indiana University, Bloomington. She later returned to college in her 50s to obtain another major in Accounting.
Ms. Louthain's career with the federal government spanned over 30 years, during which time she made significant contributions. One of her most notable achievements was a comprehensive report she compiled that led to the relocation of the Veterans Administration Regional Office from Juneau to Anchorage, Alaska. Her professionalism earned her the Public Service award and the opportunity to present her findings to the House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committee staff on Capitol Hill. After she retired, she received a Feature Writing Award from the North American Mature Publishers Association in 2005 and her first book was selected for the Fall 2001 Booksense 76 List by the American Booksellers Association.
An accomplished author and publisher, Ms. Louthain has co-published two of her books "Ame the Elephant: Terrorized by Evil Mice" in 2004 and "Tagger: Alone Along the Mystic River" in 2001. In 2003 she co-published Dr. Tootsie: A Young Girl's Dream written by world-renowned Cardiologist Suzanne B. Knoebel. In 2002, she started an online newsletter for Baby Boomers called Boomer-ING and later wrote a newspaper column with the same name.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Louthain has been a sailor, a skier, an avid golfer, a table shuffleboard player and a very enthusiastic team trivia player.
