Paul W. Birdsey Jr. channels years of expertise into his work with Iconoclast Fishery Analytics

Mr. Birdsey's work has had a significant impact on the environment.

SPANISH FORK, UT, August 28, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Paul W. Birdsey Jr. has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Mr. Birdsey's unique approach to fisheries management, data analysis and database development sets Iconoclast Fishery Analytics apart. His one-person operation, established in 2023 in Spanish Fork, Utah, offers unparalleled expertise in managing and analyzing data related to fisheries management, water quality research and customer surveys. He focuses on database development for private companies and government agencies, providing tailored solutions to meet their specific needs. Before founding Iconoclast Fishery Analytics, Mr. Birdsey dedicated himself to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, serving in various roles that enriched his understanding of the field, including as a research biologist, programmer, systems ecologist, federal assistance coordinator, regional fisheries manager and coldwater sportfish coordinator.

Over the years, Mr. Birdsey also gained valuable expertise through various seasonal technician positions, as an urban fisheries biologist for the state of Kansas, and in positions with consulting firms. An expert in his field, he earned an Associate of Science in wildlife technology from Pennsylvania State University in 1976. Subsequently, he expanded his professional knowledge by earning a Bachelor of Science in fisheries and wildlife science and a Master of Science in limnology from Utah State University. Additionally, Mr. Birdsey was recognized as a Certified Public Manager.

Mr. Birdsey's work has had a significant impact on the environment. He co-authored a publication on the Great Salt Lake with Doyle Stevens and has co-written several papers and publications over the years. Perhaps his most significant contribution, however, was establishing the management criteria for the Great Salt Lake brine shrimp fishery that continue to be utilized today. These criteria helped stabilize a fishery and ensure its sustainability in the face of the lake's variable environment. As a regional aquatics manager, Mr. Birdsey also spearheaded a project to reintroduce a native strain of cutthroat trout to an area devoid of the subspecies, further demonstrating his commitment to environmental conservation.

Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Mr. Birdsey credits his success to his father and his graduate adviser, Dr. Vincent Lamarra. He intends to incorporate his expertise into his current business operations. Mr. Birdsey's ultimate goal is to stress the importance of efficiency and effectiveness in management, particularly within governmental agencies.
