As Vice President for Community Relations at Saint John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, New York, she acted as a vital liaison between the hospital and community organizations, fostering partnerships that improved public health. Concurrently, she served as Dean of the Cochran School of Nursing, where she provided comprehensive leadership and management for the school and several other hospital departments.

Dr. Dirschel's career also includes prominent roles such as Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, where she oversaw nursing practice standards for a 1,500-bed institution, managed a budget exceeding $100 million, and led contract negotiations with multiple unions. As Vice Chancellor and Founding Dean of the Graduate School of Nursing at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Dr. Dirschel was instrumental in achieving full accreditation for the program and pioneering advanced nurse training grants, particularly in the care of HIV patients.

Dr. Dirschel's commitment to nursing education is evident in her leadership at Seton Hall University, where she managed a large nursing program, achieving accreditation and initiating international exchange programs, including the introduction of Western healthcare practices to China. Her work in China is particularly noteworthy, where she broke through language barriers to teach essential healthcare practices, significantly impacting healthcare standards in the region.

Beyond her administrative roles, Dr. Dirschel has been an influential educator, teaching at several prestigious institutions including Adelphi University, Seton Hall University, New York University, Columbia University, Mercy College, and the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. She has also served as a consultant to nursing faculty and administrators, advising on academic program approvals, international nursing standards, and electronic medical records efficiency. Her consultancy work has taken her around the globe, from advising on curriculum alignment to assessing nursing qualifications in countries that include the Peoples' Republic of China, Haiti, Uganda, Korea and India.

She further enhanced her credentials with a Certificate in Administration from Harvard University and is a registered nurse.

Dr. Dirschel's professional affiliations are extensive, including serving on the Board of Nursing in New Jersey, the Advisory Board at the College of New Rochelle's School of Nursing, and the Board of Nurses' Educational Funds, Inc., where she was President from 2002 to 2006. Her dedication to nursing extends beyond her professional life; she is deeply involved in volunteer work, driven by a profound empathy for individuals facing homelessness, health challenges, and emotional distress.

Dr. Kathleen M.
