Additionally, Dr. Bailowitz collaborated closely with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention during the outbreak and advocated for childhood vaccinations. Dr. Bailowitz's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Harvard University, magna cum laude, in 1974. She also received a Doctor of Medicine from Stanford University in 1979. Subsequently, Dr. Bailowitz completed an internship in pediatrics at Stanford University in 1980 and a residency in pediatrics at the school of medicine at The Johns Hopkins University in 1982. Dr. Bailowitz returned to Hopkins, earning a Master of Public Health in epidemiology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 1983. She further honed her expertise through a fellowship in epidemiology at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease in 1985. In addition to her education, Dr. Bailowitz received board certification from the American Board of Pediatrics.
Besides her professional endeavors, Dr. Bailowitz is actively involved in civic organizations. She volunteers with The Schuster Foundation, where she has taught various programs. The nonprofit offers various horseback riding lessons to underserved children in Baltimore City.
