Throughout his career, he has garnered tremendous respect as an expert in his field, representing a multitude of highly-regarded organizations, including Universal Entertainment, Fox Films, Death Row Records, Sony Entertainment and Polygram Filmed Entertainment, as well as financial institutions abroad in Asia, Europe and Central America and venture capital funds throughout the world. Before graduating from law school, Mr. Berglund was a financial analyst at Evans Products and a trust analyst at The Northern Trust. He also gained experience at Jones Day in Atlanta.
In addition to his primary career endeavors, Mr. Berglund has lectured for various groups on topics such as debt restructuring, international business, entertainment, sophisticated business litigation and bankruptcy. He also had the opportunity to serve as the 2016 commencement speaker for his alma mater, Eastern Illinois University.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Berglund received a nomination to West Point, received a Bachelor of Science in finance from Eastern Illinois University in 1979, followed by a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance and accounting and a Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors, in 1983 in the top 5% of his class from DePaul University. He also participated in the Harvard University Executive Master of Business Administration program in 2019, which focused on the business of entertainment, media, and sports. Mr. Berglund has been admitted to practice by the California, Texas, Georgia and Illinois Bar Associations.
Mr. Berglund's professional journey is complemented by his role on the Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce board and on the board of the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce. He was also active on the board of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, International Circle, and the president's association for the San Diego Zoo and Wildlife Park. Mr. Berglund has also been actively involved in a number of civic organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of America Atlanta, the Atlanta Youth Orchestra and the Atlanta Arts Festival. Moreover, he engages in local fundraising for community initiatives and leads committees focused on animal rescue efforts.
