Dr. Verpil is an esteemed higher education administration professional who joined the Auburn University faculty in Auburn, Alabama, in 2024 as the assistant vice president for enrollment and executive director of admissions. Contributing over 20 years of experience in his field, he oversees undergraduate admissions, including first-year students and transfer admissions, enrollment operations and processing, and recruitment travel, among other obligations. Additionally, Dr. Verpil is a member of the enrollment management council on campus and assists in managing and executing enrollment marketing efforts, including external search campaigns and new marketing collateral. Furthermore, he manages relationships and works collaboratively across various academic and administrative departments.
Recruited from Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, where he made significant contributions, Dr. Verpil worked for the institution between 2017 and 2024. From 2023 to 2024, he was the director of admissions, where he played a pivotal role in increasing LSU's applications from 17,000 to over 40,000. During his tenure, the enrollment of students from historically underrepresented groups also more than doubled, showing a growth of over 200%. Before this position, Dr. Verpil had experience as the associate director of admissions and assistant dean of recruitment and diversity.
Dr. Verpil's career in education began as the director of bands at James Madison Middle School from 2005 to 2010. He then transitioned to a guidance counselor role at Auburndale Senior High School in 2010. Dr. Verpil's journey continued when he was acquired as the assistant director of student life at the University of North Carolina in the school of the arts between 2011 to 2013 and assistant director of advising at DePaul University from 2013 to 2017.
Possessing a rich educational background, Dr. Verpil received a Bachelor of Music in music education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004, a Master of Arts in school counseling and guidance services from the University of South Florida in 2010, and a Doctor of Education in higher education administration from DePaul University in 2022. He attributes his accomplishments to his strong core values, influential mentors, supportive network, and dedication to education and service.
Dr. Verpil has been actively involved in various industry-related organizations throughout his career and is presently a member of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). His expertise in music education and middle school band was recognized through his participation as a national conference presenter for ACPA in Las Vegas in 2013. Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Verpil is committed to civic engagement. He has been a member of CPI Haiti since 2010. He previously served as a program assistant for Hephzibah Children's Association from 2014 to 2015 and was a member of the music and arts council at Centenary United Methodist Church between 2011 and 2013.
In light of his success, Dr. Verpil was recognized as the Adviser of the Year at DePaul University. He also received the $5,000 Paul McCartney Save the Music Grant from Fidelity. Dr. Verpil's dedication to improving access for underserved populations and his commitment to education have made him a respected figure in higher education administration.
