Before accepting his current appointment, Mr. Wise was the associate director of student life and leadership development for the MBA program at the Haas School of Business from 2019 to 2023. During this period, he also served as the chief executive officer of Wise Concoction LLC. Notably, his tenure as the company commandant at the California State University Maritime Academy between 2016 and 2019 further solidified his industry presence, and he gained valuable experience as a graduate intern for student conduct and community standards at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, from 2015 to 2016.
Mr. Wise proudly served in the United States Navy as a prosthetic technician and dental assistant from 1998 to 2006, which advanced his commitment to discipline and elevated leadership. His dedication to service continued through his involvement in various organizations such as the Black Staff and Faculty Organization at UC Berkeley, where he served as chairman from 2020 to 2022 and vice-chair from 2019 to 2020. He also advised the NAACP Youth and College Chapter at UC Berkeley from 2020 to 2021 and co-chaired the Veterans Staff Organization from 2019 to 2020.
Exceptional academic accomplishments further define Mr. Wise's profile. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of the Pacific as well as a Master of Education in education administration and leadership. Additionally, he holds multiple associate degrees from San Joaquin Delta College including an Associate of Arts in psychology, social sciences and interdisciplinary studies with a focus on social and behavioral sciences. Additionally, Mr. Wise earned an Associate of Arts in humanities and an Associate of Arts in interdisciplinary studies with a focus on elementary education teacher preparation.
Mr. Wise's significant accomplishments include leading and co-creating an anti-racism challenge at the Haas School of Business during a time of civil unrest. His efforts were recognized with several awards including the UC Berkeley SPOT Award in 2021 and the Outstanding Team Award, also in 2021. Mr. Wise also proudly successfully organized a virtual Black History Month program featuring Grammy-nominated artist D Smoke during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Wise is actively involved in civic organizations such as the Willie B. Adkins Scholars Program. He has received numerous accolades throughout his career including Team Pacific Rookie of the Year (2013) and Pacific Ambassador Rookie of the Year. Mr. Wise attributes his success to having positive mentors and being passionate about creating change. Mr. Wise's commitment to empowering students and providing mentorship has been instrumental in shaping his career and personal growth.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Wise enjoys spending time with his family, attending concerts, playing golf and bowling. He is married and has three children; Mr. Wise aspires to attain the position of vice president of student affairs where he can continue to drive positive change and have a significant influence on students' lives.
